Job Overview

Metals Focus is looking to recruit a Head of Mines Supply. The role is responsible for production of global mine supply, production cost and producer hedging research.

Our analysts regularly travel to the major markets speaking to contacts from across the value chain from producers to end-users, to obtain first hand and unique information.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mining team with responsibility for the collection and production of mining and hedging research on the gold, silver and PGM markets.

  • Collate, analyse and interpret data to produce written research on the precious metals market.

  • Contribute to the wider team discussion on market outlook and price forecasts across the precious metals.

  • Undertake client meetings, site visits and industry events/conferences as required. This could be as an individual, part of a larger research team or with our sales staff, and will involve travel to global destinations.

  • Establish and maintain good relationships with key industry contacts.

  • Present Metals Focus research to clients and at industry events/conferences.

  • Lead and contribute content to the company’s suite of written reports. This will involve managing the timely delivery of sections of these publications.


Qualifications & Skills


Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Degree level education; in Earth Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance or other numerate/related disciplines.

  • Must have experience in the mining industry

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an analytical role

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with strong logical thinking and attention to detail.

  • An understanding of financial modelling.

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English.

  • Ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.

  • Confident at presenting, networking and speaking; with an ability to communicate ideas and arguments in a positive and effective manner.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to develop and maintain relationships with a network of industry contacts. 

  • Ability to travel internationally.

  • A quick learner who directs energies and efforts to taking action and getting things done.

  • Ability to develop new methods of working and introduce new ideas.

  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability for delivering projects to strict deadlines.


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Fluency in other languages; preferably Spanish.

  • A strong understanding of the global commodity and financial markets.

  • Equity research experience within the resource sector desirable although not essential.

  • Mining industry experience.

  • A working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
